GII TwinSpires.com Louisiana Derby – Made my case for Major Fed in the Risen Star (2nd Division) Throwdown, and there's no reason that the lightly raced son of Ghostzapper can't take another leap forward (see Feb. 29 best-of-107 bullet) off that strong second-place finish in this wide-open affair. Could work out right trip just behind the speed from his inside draw with Rosario taking over the reins. Selection: #1 Major Fed (8-1).
DiDonato – Last Week's Results – Basin and Halo Again ran similar races–not quite good enough. Bankroll: $2065.
GII TwinSpires.com Louisiana Derby – I loved Lynn's Map in both the Smarty Jones S. and Modernist's division of the GII Risen Star S. I thought he had an excuse in the Smarty Jones, and was a sneaky-good sixth in the Risen Star. He was way too far back in a race that played to speed last time, and found tons of traffic trouble in the stretch. He beat would-be Louisiana Derby favorite Mr. Monomoy in December over this (sloppy) strip, and I'm keeping the faith one more time at a huge number. Selection: #12 Lynn's Map (30-1).
